Calvary Knoxville - Biblical Discipleship

When various troubles come up or temptations overtake the daily life of a believer, the causes can often be linked to a weak relationship with Jesus and a lack of knowledge of what God has already told us about how to handle situations and what He expects of us.

The bridge between a weekly Christian to a daily follower of Christ is Discipleship. It's a process of following through on what Jesus said we need to do if we "desire" to come after Him (Luke 9:23).

Calvary Knoxville offers group study and one to one paths that lay a foundation, introduce us to various areas of our life where we need the disciplined exercise of a professional athlete, and how our Wonderful Counselor gives us guidance and instruction and how He wants to use us in the lives of our brothers and sisters in Christ.

Becoming more like Jesus is the essence of Discipleship.

After going through our Discipleship Ministry, people are experiencing a closer relationship with God, clarity for how God wants to use them in ministry and feel led to be disciplers and counselors themselves.

While we offer structured courses, the journey of becoming more like our Savior is life long. So consider these classes as "just the beginning" of how God is going to mold and shape you into the likeness of His Son, with a unique purpose that He planned before you were born!

Everything begins in the Foundations class, which serves as a prerequisite for the Disciplines and Counseling classes. The Parenting and Marriage classes will be independent of these and there are no prerequisites for those classes except to either have kids or be married!

We offer TWO PATHS for discipling.

The first is Group Based (which is the most common) offering opportunities for developing relationships and sharing experiences.

The second is One To One* which pairs you with a discipler of the same gender. One To One offers flexibility in scheduling that group based discipleship doesn't afford.

*Please note that One To One can be limited based on an available discipler and flexibility in mutual schedules.
