Pastor Mark's official position on abortion.
Jeremiah 1:5 says, “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. Before you were born, I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”
This means God knows us even before that “spark of life” at conception. So abortion of a baby at any time after conception is the illegitimate taking of a life and a sin against God. This includes abortion in cases of rape and incest, which aren’t the fault of the child. The only exception would be a tubal pregnancy, where both the mom and baby will die if nothing is done.
I believe that every baby in the womb has all the same God-given protections and designations as any person who ever lived. And concerning man-made laws, children in the womb should have all the same protections as any other human being. And of course, anyone violating state abortion legislation should be held accountable to those laws, just as with any other law.
In Tennessee, our biggest problem is people shipping in the abortion pill from out of state, which is now said to be killing more children than the clinics. So while Roe v. Wade was overturned and abortion banned in our state, the murder of the unborn is still active.
Our fight today needs to focus on stopping the abortion pill from coming into Tennessee, and by God’s grace, eventually banning it in every state in the US.
With that said, what action will we as a church take to protect the unborn?
First and foremost, we will continue to teach God’s Word and educate people on what God says concerning the unborn. He made mankind in His image, and thus, ALL human life is sacred. All means all, even in the womb. Therefore, it is imperative that we stand for laws that will protect life. And secondly, we will do our best to inform you of any and all candidates that stand against abortion and the abortion pill, allowing you to go out and vote on your principles. Together, we hope to make a difference in saving the lives of the unborn here in Tennessee.
